The Adelaide Racing Festival is gearing up to be host to its most prestigious race on the horse racing calendar; the Group 1 South Australian Derby (2500m).
Taking place on the 2nd of May at Adelaide’s Morphettville Racecourse, the South Australian Derby will be offering $300,000 in prize money to its competitors, as they fight it out over the 2,500 metre staying distance.
The Group 1 race has seen many horses with long odds come out triumphant.
The South Australian Derby will draw the state’s top three-year-old horses to compete under weight-for-age conditions on South Australia’s richest day of racing throughout the year; the Super Sunday.
In previous years, the Group 1 race has seen many horses with long odds come out triumphant, always producing a thrilling battle on the track.
Also taking place at the Morphettville Racecourse on Super Sunday will be the Group 1 Goodwood Handicap (1200m), the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) and the Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m).
