2015 South Australian Derby Odds and Betting Update

May 7th, 2015

A talented and capacity field of 16 plus three emergencies has been confirmed for Saturday’s featured Group 1 SA Derby (2500m) at Morphettville Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Delicacy opened at odds of $4.80 in 2015 SA Derby betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au on Tuesday but has already experienced huge attention from punters who have instilled the filly as clear $3.20 market mover and favourite.

Delicacy has finished outside the first three only once through 13 career starts to date and is in scintillating condition leading into the 2015 SA Derby.

Placing third in the Listed Make Your Own Magic Challenge (1500m) on February 154th, the Al Maher filly has since tasted nothing but success; winning each of the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m), Listed Natasha Stakes (200m), Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) and Group 2 WATC Derby (2400m) on her way to success in last weekend’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m).

Confirmed to be partnered by last start hoop Peter Hall, Delicacy will need some luck in running from barrier 14 but is more than capable of carrying a race-low 54.5kgs to success.

Manapine is yet to experience much more than a sprinkling of bets for success in 2015 SA Derby markets but has maintained status as sole occupant of the second line at generous $6.50 odds.

Securing two wins and one minor through just six career starts, Manapine was unable to make much of an impact when tenth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on March 7th but has clearly relished a continued step-up in distance since; placing sixth in the Fleming’s Nurseries BM64 (2000m) before taking out the Listed Galilee Series Final (2500m) last time out.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading jockey Dwayne Dunn, Manapine will be tough to beat in the 2015 SA Derby from the ideal barrier 6.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at a quote of less-than $10 in 2015 SA Derby betting markets, October Date carries winning form into Saturday’s feature and is worth consideration for a bet at $7 odds.

Finishing outside the first three only once over four starts this time, the Barely A Moment gelding placed second in a Morphettville minor over a mile first-up on February 14th; progressing to success in the Corporate Events @ Morphettville BM70 (1600m) a fortnight later.

Having since placed fourth in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) and won the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2020m), all signs point towards another competitive performance for October Date in the 2015 South Australian Derby.
